Got some food porn for you

Even though the Packers play tonight, this is not a game food porn post. The game is late enough that there is not game food, technically, but just dinner. Anyway, tonight, I did ribs, a smoked pork shoulder, hush puppies and corn pudding, with some limas and corn on the cob thrown in for good measure. The main items of interest for us tonight are the hush puppies and the corn pudding. The puppies I have never fixed, and the corn pudding is from a recipe from my aunt Bonnie, who recently died, via a cousin who gave me the recipe after the funeral. Very Southern, even if my cousin is a Yankee. She's lived north of Petersburg for 25 years or so and is acclimated. Anyway, on to the food porn.

You will start, of course, with the ingredients. These are 4 eggs, 1 cup of sugar, 2 tbs of corn starch, 1/2 stick of butter, melted, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 tsp lemon extract (I had no lemon extract and so used an actual lemon, using the juice from a half), 1/4 tsp vanilla and 1 can of cream style corn.

First, beat the eggs. Then add the sugar:

Add the milk:

Add the corn starch:

Add the vanilla and lemon:

Add the butter, making sure the melted butter is no longer hot, or else it will turn your mix into scrambled eggs. No shit, hot butter will cook your eggs. Don't do it.

Then add the corn.

Mix it up right, people. Mix it up right. Then put it into a casserole dish of appropriate size:

Bake it at 350 for about 30 minutes. Make sure it is firm in the middle.

Looks good, don't it? Enjoy.
