Seems like this is what we're seeing right now

Robert Heinlein, one of the greatest science-fiction writers ever, had no trouble seeing the world as it is despite his profession. As I watch the Democrat party slide ever-further to the left, I am reminded of this Heinlein quote, as this seems to be the goal of the left:
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as “bad luck.”
That about sums up the philosophy of the Democrat party: hound the producers out of society, then blame the results on "bad luck."
